A vision of loveliness

A vision of loveliness
Current mood: embarrassed

Have you ever been so embarrassed you wanted to just crawl into a hole and hide? Yeah. Where is one of those holes when you need it?

The other day, my brother in law shows up at the house with the hoagies the hub ordered from my niece. He comes in, the house is TRASHED beyond belief. I mean dishes on the counter, toys and junk strewed all throughout the living room, the whole nine yards! Well when he came in, the dog and my son went out.

Meanwhile inside, my brother in law is standing uncomfortably in my wonderful mess. He didn't know what kind of hoagies we ordered, (neither did I, because the hub ordered them) so I had to go wake Mike up. When I return, I still don't know what hoagies are ours, nor do I know where the money is to pay for them. I let Mike handle all of the money and I had no idea where he had stashed all our cash. I look outside and the dog is running amok while my son is standing on the front porch, facing the road, peeing into the yard while my uncle was mowing the grass across the street.

What a vision of loveliness we are. Should you ever want a peek at redneckery at its finest, stop on by. Were the house with the crazy dog...and the unusual fountain on the porch.

102.3

What is 102.3?

A. My new favorite radio station

B. The speed at which we drove home from work last night

C. Slimey's tempature

The answer is C. (Ok, it was probably B too!)

In case you don't know, the hub and I work together. At about 3:45 am he shows up at my desk and says his mom called and Slimey is shivering so hard his teeth are chattering! He doesn't have a fever so she's scared. I ask him if he needs me to go home. He says he is going to find the boss, we are BOTH leaving.

By 4 am we are flying down the turnpike and all I can see in front of me is miles and miles of highway. It seems like my baby is hours away. Turns out we made the 45 minute trip home in 25 minutes or so! It seemed more like an hour to me. Really.

We get Slimey home, he is throwing up and has a temp of 102.3. Poor little fellow can't even keep water down. He kept  about 1/2 a teaspoon of Tylenol down before losing that too. He took a little nap, got some more Tylenol down and by 7 am was yelling and screaming at me that he was indeed going to pre-school today. He even got dressed. Right down to book bag and jacket!

Things are back to normal now. Well sort of. Mommy is tired and now Daddy is sick. He has a very nervous stomach. Slimey is playing dominoes on the floor like none of this ever happened!

How do they love me...Let me count the ways!

One.....

The hub and son let me sleep in....until 11:30am!

Two.....

This is what I woke up to.

Fresh coffee in my favorite cup, a handmade card from my son, and homemade cupcakes decorated in my favorite colors. The hub made the cupcakes and the icing from scratch!

Three...

A very cute Mother's Day bracelet my son made at school. ( I got this little surprise on Friday...he couldn't wait to give it to me!) I just love the little ladybug beads!

The best things in life are free!

I am truely blessed!

Happy Mother's Day!

Oh yeah, the hub even made a special cupcake for our son!

What a compliment!

I grew up very self conscious of my looks. I grew up hearing how pretty my little sister was. As for me?....Well I got good grades. Yeah, that did wonders for my self esteem!*

When I met my husband, one of my favorite things about him was that no matter what I looked like that day ( make up or no make up, dressed up or dressed down) he made me feel like I was the hottest girl on the planet.

Fast forward almost 10 years, he still makes me feel that way. I have learned to love what I see in the mirror these days. He is always telling me I am HOTT and I believe, in his eyes, I am.

 Until this morning...

There are these two guys who me and my husband work with ( yes we even work together!) who told me that  they wanted to enter me into the local radio station's search for the area's hottest mom! It was too late to send in entries...but it's the thought that counts right?

*Cupcakegirl's current self-esteem is at an all time high these days!

Inspired

A friend of mine recently wrote a blog about things that made her happy. Her entry made me smile and inspired me to make my own list.

Things that make me smile:

Hearing my 4 year old sing The Clarks tune Shimmy Shimmy Low in his best rock and roll voice

cupcakes with sprinkles

watching my husband be totally absorbed in a history book

Charleston South Carolina

the fact that my husband's Grandfather is 93 years old and still flirts with waitresses and nurses...and they flirt back

meatloaf with mashed potatoes

how when I'm in a bad mood, my son makes funny faces to make me laugh

when my husband throws sports stats at me like I really know what he's talking about

jeans that fit

freebies

pens that don't skip

making this list
